Do a full-body exfoliation the day before your appointment. This removes dead skin cells and helps the tanning solution apply evenly. Avoid anything too oily — oil-based scrubs can leave residue that prevents the tan from developing properly.

Pro tip: Pay extra attention to areas like elbows, knees, ankles, and heels.

2. Shave or Wax at Least 24 Hours Before

Hair removal can irritate the skin and cause uneven tanning if done too close to your appointment. Aim to shave or wax the day before, not the day of.

3. Skip Lotions, Deodorant, and Perfume

On the day of your appointment, keep your skin product-free. Lotions, deodorants, and makeup can create barriers that interfere with how the tan absorbs.

This includes showers, workouts, and even washing your hands too often. The solution needs time to fully develop on your skin.

2. Take a Lukewarm Shower (No Scrubbing)

When you do rinse off, keep it gentle. Use warm water, no soap for the first rinse, and don’t exfoliate.

3. Pat Dry — Don’t Rub

After showering, gently pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing, which can wear away your tan faster.

4. Moisturize Daily (But Wisely)

Hydrated skin = longer-lasting tan. Use a fragrance-free, oil-free lotion to avoid breakdown of the color.

5. Avoid Chlorine, Long Baths, and Exfoliating Products

Hot tubs, pools, and strong exfoliants can fade your tan more quickly. If you need to swim, keep it short and moisturize afterward.
